How do I make an appointment for a gynecologist?

I'm 18, I've never seen a gyno but I've been experiencing pain and discomfort, when I call what do I ask for ?? I don't know where to start, sorry if this sounds dumb

In Canada you have to be referred by your GP to see any kind of specialist. For an appointment with an OB/GYN its really simple- you basically just ask your GP to see one for whatever reason and they'll put in the referral request. I know when my family lived in the US my mum talked to our family GP and they were able to get her in contact with a OB/GYN in the area. So Id personally start by asking your normal doctor if they know of a good OB/GYN in the area
