I'm dating this guy and of course I want everything to work out, so I need tips and advice for a healthy and long-lasting relationship. My last relationship lasted 4 months and 4 days and I want something real this time.

Forgive after every fight, move on, don't bring up the past. Worry about the present, and future never dwell on the past.

Be honest about what you want and make sure your relationship is with the right person to begin with.

In order for this to work, you need to know yourself and be very honest about what you need. I need a certain level of physical touch and affection. I used to try and change that or accept that my ex BF wasn't the same and change myself. Well, F that! When I met my husband I was honest about what my needs were, including my need for affection. I had other "silly" needs as well. I stopped dismissing my needs and downplaying them, and instead found someone who was happy to meet those needs.

My husband is everything I had every hoped for and everything I never knew I needed. We've been together 10 years. We have 3 little boys. He's the light of my life. He turns my world. We are still honeymooning.

Don't go into a relationship dismissing what you need or hoping your partner changes to conform. Instead find someone who already is capable, willing, and excited to provide what you need right from the start. You will be much happier for it.
