Is it wrong in any way for a white girl or guy I suppose to get cornrows?

I personally like the style and don't see what is wrong with someone from any background wearing whatever hairstyle they feel suits them. With that being said I'm considering doing this to my own hair but at the same time I'm not looking for a fight or to have to go out with my boxing gloves on... I know there has been controversy when some celebrities have done this style. Is it because they call it the wrong thing (box braids) or is there more to it?

Cultural appropriation. It's more so an issue when it's done as if the person invented the style. Alot of POC are looked down upon when we wear braids and such. Personally, as a woman of color I don't care when it's done appropriately. I don't think every woman is coming from a hateful place. At the end of the day, if you like the hairstyle go for it. People will have something to say regardless of what you do. I hope you upload pics when you do the style 😍

I got cornrows when I was on vacation, I only did like 4 on one side but I loved it haha and I'm white, it's your hair do what ya want with it

It's hair for christ sake. People get butthurt over anything. Nothing wrong with cornrows on white people or people of colour.

Not a big deal. Research the braids and become informed on how black women feel on this topic. Thats all you can do. No one is entitled to a hairstyle. Thats ignorant but i also don’t think everyone looks good in it either.
