Apps can be wrong and you can have egg white cervical mucus at any point in your cycle, not JUST during ovulation. Even ovulation strips don't guarantee ovulation, you can have a LH surge without releasing an egg. It's best to bbt.

You can have fertile CM during any time of your cycle, how many DPO are you? I got it at 9DPO

It can be off by a few days or in some cases an entire week. Are you using ovulation tests?
