morphine while pregnant?

anyone have morphine while pregnant? not during labor . long story short I'm in the hospital fighting an infection my bf has the same one and was diagnosed with colitis. don't know if I have that yet, still testing. But my doctor gave me morphine.  said it was fine. I've been googling it as well. just want to know about anyone else having it. please no bad remarks I've been in a car accident and now this sickness that's unknown .just a terrible weekend in general. thanks for the responses ahead of time. also I'm 20 weeks, I've had 3 ultrasounds over this weekend. baby is perfect. he's bouncing like he's on a trampoline in there. and I feel it all.

I was put on it at 29 weeks. I was admitted due to severe back pain, to find out as this baby grows my spine is twisting and potentially jammed under one of my hips.  I was put on bed rest because I am a nurse and couldn't be moving and lifting patients when my body is doing this. I do not take drugs, I never have. My doctor gave me a dose and because I know my pharmacology, I only take half of one pill when ABSOLUTELY needed. But that's my choice. I was given 20 pills 7 weeks ago and I still have 18.5 left. Morphine is safe in pregnancy, but the thought of it crossing the placenta and baby being put to sleep from me taking it just rubs me the wrong way. Always follow your doctors orders. Yes it is ok to take, yes other people take it and if you are in that much pain - take it. I can get away with chiro and heating pads. If you cannot, it's safer to take the medication for both you and your baby as pain causes stress and baby can feel that stress and it can not be good for the both of you. I hope you get feeling better and remember your doctor has already weighed the benefits over the risks before prescribing this to you - trust him/her. Good luck mama 💗

It wouldn't be good to take it for an extended period of time as it can cause dependence in the baby and respiratory depression if given close to delivery, but this early on you should be fine. It's not know to cause birth defects. Good luck! I hope you feel better soon.

my ob gave it to me while pregnant. I was having active labor contractions with no progression from 27 weeks until I gave birth at 41 weeks. every 2-3 minutes horrible contractions. one night I came in to L&D; and I was having contractions every 1 min and lasting 1 min we thought we were having out baby... she gave me morphine to sleep because I hadn't slept I was having back labor as well. I slept like a baby and woke up the next morning and my contractions had slowed down. it's safe. I promise. my ob gave me it

It's the painkillers with 'eine' in it that are the bigger risk to crossing to baby, so morphine or Percocet would be safer, codeine not as much. I had to take Percocet while breast feeding and there wasn't a risk for baby to get it
