transition to convertible seat anyone?

Has anyone used convertible seat for their baby ? The infant car seat is getting small for my baby . His ped says he can't use it until he is 2 yrs old. Any suggestion or advice welcome

My daughter has been in her convertible car seat since 6 months, maybe he meant rear facing until age 2? I still have my daughter rear facing but in her convertible car seat

My twins have been in their convertible car seats since 10 months. We got them the Graco milestone and I'm very happy with them!

Yes we switched at 10 months. They can use one now as long as its rear facing.

We just got my son his new convertible car seat yesterday and he loves it. We bought the Graco Extend2fit 3-in-1 and its great, its way more comfortable for him. It has extended leg room, better 5 point harness and clips. The clips can be placed to the sides so that its not tucked under when placing him in his seat. Very easy to adjust the harness levels. Also the seat will grow with my son.

I read an article in consumer report and they work with the national crash test crew. The long and short of it was they suggest that children go in to a convertible by at LEAST 1 year old. Reason is even if your child is still ok weight wise they might have out grown the seat height wise. something no one talks about. The finding was also that more children suffer head injuries because of this. I switched my lo at 9 months.

I changed my daughter to her convertible car seat around 9 months.  It is great.  We have the Graco 4-ever all in one.  I changed her to forward facing at about 13 months.  Yes-they recommend 2 years but it's not the law.  And she does much better because her legs are long (I understand they can stay rear facing w her legs up the seat-but I chose not to do this).

He must have misunderstood. Convertible seats are for rear facing up to a certain height/weight, and then forward after that. We moved our son at 7 months to his brotax boulevard, rear facing.

My daughter has been in her graco 4 ever since 7 months. They still need to be rear facing, but many seats have options to rear and forward face depending on age, height, weight. Maybe the doc thought you were going to turn her around. Best thing to do is to go into a store and start checking out the seats, you want one that is rear facing and forward facing ( we have the graco 4 ever and love it)!
