New to the Pill

So this is the first time I've used the birth control in the form of a pill. I am 4 days into taking the pill and also on my period. I have been feeling very emotional, as in crying off and on for the past four days. I get some mood swings when I'm on my period, but never like this. I am dealing with some stress, but I'm feeling them times 10. I've been on the Depo shot before and never was like this. Is this normal and should I look into taking something different?
