Tell who?

Question

So my doctor said that we should pick 1 sibling from each side to tell we are pregnant just in case of a miscarriage. I have three sisters. Two of them have had miscarriages but the one that I'm closest to hasn't. I'm torn because I want to tell my sister that I'm closest to but I'm afraid if I do miscarry then she won't know how to help. What should I do? I'm almost 7 weeks pregnant so I'm not too close to tell everyone yet.

I hate when people say what you "should" do with this like this. Even if it's a doctor saying that. He doesn't know your family life, your relationship with your siblings, how you like to deal with difficult situations in your particular way. If, God forbid, you have a miscarriage, as another poster said, you might feel very good about having your family members who have been happy with you, to be there for you and mourn with you. Maybe that's not your thing. It's your choice. There is no should or shouldn't with some things, and I personally think this is one of those things. Good luck and congratulations ❤️

I would tell all your siblings and parents. I loss my son at 15 weeks and we really needed all the support from our families.

You can tell as many people as you want to. Especially those you would tell about a miscarriage, anyway. I had a miscarriage and we had told a lot of people about the pregnancy and didnt regret it. Their support and understanding was nice to have.

or, you don't HAVE to tell anyone if you don't want to, and you can tell whoever you think will be the most supportive or helpful about a miscarriage if/when it happens. i say, just cross that bridge when you get to it😊 just another option/idea

We told all our immediate family by 8 weeks and I had a hemorrhage which was just as scary. It was nice to have all the family supporting us as it was quite scary. Thankfully it was alright for us but you never know but I know I would have wanted the support.

I told all our family with both pregnancies.  When we lost our first baby it was a huge comfort to go to them and cry and get the hugs and extra love we needed to get through the toughest time if our lives thus far.  I would tell anyone you want to tell.

Weird that a doctor would recommend who to tell. It's totally up to you! I didn't tell anyone until 13 weeks. That was my personal choice. If your family is supportive and you want to tell them all then do so! If not, don't.

We told our families right off the bat our friends and extended families we waited to tell.

I've lost two told everyone as soon as I knew. My third pregnancy was the biggest celebration.
