Twin girls are here
Ok so here's the birth story. I have been in labor since 33 weeks. We came into the hospital, got steroid shots and waited to see what would happen. By the next day labor had stopped but drs fully expected me back within the week to have babies. At 34 weeks and 35 weeks we made 2 more trips in for non stop, consistent contractions. I would get to the hospital and there would be enough cervical change and frequent enough contractions that they would keep me. But the longer I was in the hospital the more labor just stalled. I walked around at 6cm for over a week and was scheduled for an induction (via rupturing membranes) for Wednesday. But all weekend I was in so much pain I couldn't w
alk.
Monday morning I woke up to pretty strong contractions that were getting stronger and closer together (about every 2 minutes) I finally went in to the hospital around 11 only to find out there had been no more cervical change but the dr didn't want me walking around at 6cm any longer for fear of infection.
I was gbs positive so I got both doses of penicillin and then my water was broken around 4:30, I was still at 6cm. At around 5 I got the sensation of needing to poop so the dr checked me again and I was at an 8 but she felt like it was time to move to the OR. They started to roll me back and before we could make it in the room I told them I needed to push, they told me to breath through it (🙄yea ok). Next breath babies head was out and we got into the room just in time for her to plop onto the bed. Oaklyn
Grace was born at 5:11, sunny side up.
Baby Bs water was broken once dr was able to join us in the OR and was encouraged down into the birth canal with a few pushes and the assistance of the dr. Harlyn Faith was born in 2 pushes at 5:25.
The only thing in my birth plan the dr wouldn't agree to was skipping the pitocin post partum but it was actually a blessing because I ended up bleeding out much more than expected.
I love half of the providers at my practice but don't love so much the other half. So I went in not knowing who to expect but i was thrilled to find out it was my favorite dr on call and then my favorite midwife arrived just in time to join us in the OR. It was honestly the best case scenario and I'm so so thankful. I will add both babies had been, and stayed, head down throughout the entire pregnancy.
