Experienced Moms! Should I bring pump to the hospital?

I know hospitals have pumps you can rent but I already have my own so should I bring it? I don’t know if I’ll actually need it since my stay will be like 3 days and milk doesn’t always come in right away. Do y’all think I should bring it?

I personally wouldn't. If anything happened and you needed to pump the hospital has medela pumps you could use..... once you have used one pump they are basically all the same 🤷‍♀️ just my thought, so much is going on at hospital it's helpful to not over pack

I didn't bring one or use the hospitals. Never needed it. If in the case any won't latch then he hospital should have one or you can send someone home for yours. But I wouldn't bother taking it

Only if you're sure you don't want to do direct feeding,  and they can help you with your pump. But if you want to feed baby directly, it's best to avoid the pump at first to establish latch. Besides the first couple of days your milk doesn't come in, it's colostrum which isn't easily pumped.

The hospital I stayed at provided the usage of a pump (and encouraged pumping for 20 mins after breastfeeding) and gave free pump parts for my Medela set at home

I did, just because I'd never used one and I wanted the Lactation consultant to show me how it worked before I got home. But I definitely didn't use it until I got home and my milk came in.

I didn't need one. My milk was in by the day I left the hospital but I was still ok without it. I leaked a bit, but I don't think I would have tried to pump, even if I had it with me. Definitely needed if a couple days after going home though.

Only if you're planning on exclusively pumping and bottle feeding instead of direct feeding at the breast
