Have/had a 9+ month old that wont/wouldn't sleep through the night?

Question

Share your experiences! Have you had a baby that wasn't sleeping through the night at 9+ months? Are they sleeping through the night now? How long did it take to change? What did you have to do? Did it happen on it's own? Are you currently struggling with a 9+ month old that won't sleep through the night? How do you cope? Are you taking it day by day? Are you losing your mind reading every sleep book you can?

I'll admit that this is my biggest struggle right now. My girl is an angel all day, I finally feel like I am getting routine back in my life but night time is an absolute mess. I feel like it's me doing something wrong so she wont sleep more than 3 hour consistently. And to be honest it probably is because it seems like my only option between my sleepless nights and ever sleeping again is leaving her to cry it out. And while I know it works great for many many many parents, without explaining myself in detail for the millionth and tenth time... I just don't feel like it is a good fit for her high need personality. So here I am having read every sleep book I think I can, keeping the same nap and bed time routine since she was 4 months old, weaning her from night nursing, moved her to her own room at 6 months, working on keeping her in her own crib for gradually later and later periods at night (cold turkey doesn't work because an exhausted mom gives in)... And still she will not consistently sleep more than 3 hours. BUT I count my blessings as she naps AMAZING during the day, never fusses when we are out (the world is her oyster even at this age) and finally FINALLY lets me putter around the house while she crawls around on the floor playing. She no longer cries every time I put her down or am out of sight and is starting let other people into her circle so it's not just MOM MOM MOM all the time now. It's SUCH a relief. But when I hear everyone else with their 6 to 12 month olds that are sleeping 8+ hours every night I can't help but feel I'm somehow failing a bit or doing something wrong. Would be nice to hear from mom's who struggled with the same and aren't just giving empty advice of someone who has never had the struggle.

I found the best thing to do was accept that my dd wasn't a good sleeper. And to look for ways to cope. A person can lose a lot of time and energy trying to "fix" their baby. She's 2 1/2 now and has more bad nights than good. Last night was a good night. she woke twice and wouldn't let me put her down for almost an hour from 4:30-530am. The night before she woke around 6 times.

My baby started sleeping through the night at 10 months, he still wakes up every now and then because he looses his pacifier. But he goes right back to sleep. I had to sleep train. And it was a living nightmare but the outcome is wonderful! He's a great sleeper now!
