Got the pill for the first time???

Question

I just got the pill from my doctors today and I'm kinda confused when to start it because she said start on the day your period is meant to come but why 
However my cousin says I should start tomorrow so my body can get use to it and whatever 
Please when should I start it any ideas
And my bf and I are planning to have sex on Monday so I obviously won't to be ready for that 
Im just lost

It all depends on your cycle. I would listen to your doctor and start it on the first day or your cycle. 
Also, if you want it to be effective, you should give it AT LEAST a week before having sex.

I'd follow your doctor's advice. Before I started the pill, I read somewhere (various medical websites) that starting the pill on the first day of your period protects you against pregnancy right away. I can't say if that's 100% true as I'm not a doctor lol but I started mine as soon as the doctor gave it to me and had to wait a week before having sex. Just depends on what pill you're on. :)

I started mine the first day of my period, and that has been fine for me so far. No nausea or really anything unpleasant. I haven't noticed and body changes yet.
Doctors generally give that as advice because 1) it becomes active faster, and 2) it maintains your regular menstrual cycle.

Read you pamphlet as everything you need to know is stated in there. As boring as it may sound, it's not optional. Do not use any sort of medication without reading the instructions. This is especially important as incorrect use can cause negative side effects and also pregnancy.
If you want to be protected immediately, starting the pill on the first day of your period would be the way to go. You can start now, but you'd have to wait about a week (8 pills worth) before you can have condomless sex. It does NOT take a month for it to become effective so whoever comes up to you stating that is very miseducated. Read your pamphlet to know when exactly it is fully effective.
Also keep in mind that now that you're starting the pill, your old cycles do not matter anymore, and you don't ovulate, so don't rely on period apps. A period is only considered a period during your break week at the end.
Make sure to be consisted with your pill intake to ensure that you're always protected.
I could go on about this matter but your pamphlet is your best bet.

My doctor told me that I was supposed to start the pill on the next Sunday after I got me period. That would help me to start the pills in order. 
It also depends on your pills. I'm taking combination pills so try to reach your doctor for a more accurate answer. Also, you should know that pills start being effective after at least 72 hours. Use a back up method for the first week. Its always recommended just in case. Good luck! ❤️
