Has political correctness gone awry?

"There is nothing decorative about raw cotton. A commodity which was gained at the expense of African-American slaves. A little sensitivity goes a long way. Please remove this decor." I'm using this post by Daniell Rider to open up a discussion on political correctness. Remember, context is key.

I think in this case of the cotton, it was rude in the dinner party incident, but as a decoration in general it isn't. It's a lovely flower, it's not natures fault, and we all wear cotton so... it's all about context and intent.

Yes because there is something wrong with everything now. You put your left foot forward when you start to walk, well how dare you! People who use their right foot will be so offended! That sweater your wearing, a childs fingers are bleeding because they made so many.....Dress your newborn baby boy in boys clothes, how dare you assume! Say what you want but I am sick of everyone being so offended, if we were all the same we would loose the spice of life, if someone thinks cotton is pretty let them use it as decor, and if you want to complain you better take them to your hose so you can have them tell you all the ways you offend them.
