Morning sickness. Can you die?

Question

With my first pregnancy I had Diclegis and it was amazing. I got my OB to prescribe it for this one and no amount of Diclegis I take helps. I work at a doctors office and finally cracked after losing three pounds over the weekend due to vomiting and got an IV push of Zofran. I was also extremely dehydrated so I got two IV bags. Have my other moms used Zofran without and birth defects? What are your thoughts? I haven't felt this good in so long after the Zofran kicked in. I ate so much and drink four bottles of water in one sitting.

I had hypermesis with both pregnancies and am starting to believe I have it now as well. I live on Zofran tablets and IVs here and there. Both kids have been born perfectly healthy with no complications. I hope it gets better for you!

My mother took Zofran with me due to developing hyperemesis. It was her miracle drug and after two doses she downed 3 large pizzas by herself 🙌 I am 100% healthy other than a heart condition that runs in my family :) If the benefit of a drug outweighs the cost doctors generally would rather you take it and deal with later problems down the road. I know my mom's experience isn't something you should take as 100% go but if your doctors are giving you a medicine it's for the best ^.^ Good Luck and I hope you have a great rest of your pregnancy!!

Ugh 😑 sorry that you feel so sick! I understand how you feel....I was so sick during my first pregnancy that I weighed less at my final check up than I did when I initially found out I was pregnant! And was a “frequent flyer” in the ER for IV fluids with the second. No medicine ever worked for me....it was horrible! This time, I started feeling the symptoms at about 6.5 weeks...hopefully Zolfran will help this time 🤞🏻 Good luck, girl!

I took it with my other 2 pregnancies and both of my kids came out healthy with no defects

I had zofran with both of my other pregnancies and they both came out healthy with 10 fingers 10 toes 2 arms 2 eyes 2 legs and everything a normal person has lol!

Update: after being on Zofran ODT since the 20th I'm still very nauseous. I'm at a loss, I have no idea what to do and they won't move my appointment up. I feel like I have hang over tummy, food poisoning, and the flu all in one. I'm down 7lbs since Friday and I'm starting to get back pains and if I do get nausea relief which is only for a few minutes I have abdominal pain. My OB's MA just says we will see you at your visit. Work is refusing to let me call in and I'm about to break down. I'm convinced I have hyperemisis. I feel like a crazy person and my 16 mo son is upset with me because I can't get up and play.

I had hyperemesis gravidarum my last pregnancy, all the way up until I gave birth. I was on many different meds, but eventually ended up with a PICC line (a permanent IV), with a zofran pump 24/7. Baby girl is as healthy as can be and is crazy smart. ❤️ I always recommend Diclegis first if you can, but the study that came out again Zofran was a really horribly done study. Correlation does not equal causation (basically just because there is a tiny correlation, does not mean that Zofran caused the defects)

I used zofran with my son and no birth defects lol. He's perfect. My nausea is picking up and I e already started taking it as needed. It's such a life saver!

I am so sick with pregnancy. It sucks. I haven't taken Zofran but my SIL did for her entire pregnancy. I don't want to say her daughter has a birth defect because she was healthy but she is Autistic. Don't know if it's related and please don't jump down my throat. I just don't trust Zofran. Yes some people had positive experiences and others had bad, I just don't want to take it. I went to my doctors today and they told me to take Unisom and Vitamin B6 twice a day so I'm going to try that. If that doesn't work, I'll ask about something else or to be taken out of work. I have an almost 6 month old at home and working and taking care of her is too much for me.
