Parents of older kids
How do you deal with procrastinating on chores? My stepson is 12 (almost 13) and getting him to do his three chores is like pulling teeth. Well, two. Dishes and dog poop. He is generally okay with cleaning his room. He will stall and drag his feet until we have to really get on him to do it. We told him he wasn't allowed to run upstairs until after the dishes are done yet he will mess with the dogs or things on the counters or the fish. This past weekend, he tried to hide in his room after cleaning it to pick up dog poop. We are getting real frustrated and don't know what to do. One thing I'm considering is taking his phone and tablet away until he does his chore. Of course, I don't know what to do about the dogs.
Any advice?
