Is he interested?

So I have met the absolute sweetest guy ever. We've been hooking up and its so great, he said he does like me but he's not ready for a relationship right now. I told him I completely understand and respect that as we are both starting college/HVAC.. however, me being the insecure person I am, have doubts about whether he likes me or not. Like I said he's extremely sweet and respectful and am just wondering if maybe anyone has had the same experience as I? Thanks in advance for your help/feedback!

UPDATE: we hung out last night, and he said that since he's never had a relationship before, he's nervous about one. He also said that in high school he wouldn't talk to girls because he would get too nervous (he has bad anxiety) but that it doesn't matter because I was worth the wait. I know he's not a fuckboy or anything because he's my best friends boyfriend's best friend. Her boyfriend told me that he means well just is nervous. Any thoughts on what this means? Do you think he isn't ready for a relationship because he's never been in one and doesn't know what it's like?? thank you for your responses!
