Safe sex?

So I'm 17 and I've been sexually active since June , but I've only been using condoms and pull out. I wanted to start birth control since I have sex and I have horrible period cramps , but my mom won't let me take Bc and she kind of scared me out of wanting birth control because she said it causes blood clots and can kill you.  So I'm wondering what I should do, should I start birth control anyway when I turn 18 in January (if so which birth control is the safest ?) or is condoms and pull out safe enough?

what would your mums opinion be if you got a unwanted pregnancy if you had the opportunity to prevent this? Do what's right for you, go speak to your gp and get a professional opinion on what's best suited to you x

Idk where your mom got this info but it isn't entirely accurate.  There are so many different types of BC out there.  Set up an appointment with your gyno doctor and they can tell you all the pros and cons and types available.  Some are better depending on your age, whether or not you've had babies among many other variables.  They will go through all of this with you and give you professional advice on what would work best for you. In the meanwhile stick with condoms for sure.  The pull out method on its own can be risky so just be careful if that's what you choose to do.  A lot of people still get pregnant that way 😬

I would definitely go on the pill. you can go to planned parenthood or a regular gyno. they will prescribe what they think is best for you
