Purple shade gender neutral?

Do you think these shoes can be used for a gender neutral announcement? For our wedding I wore purple Tom's and he wore purple converse so we are going to wear them again with these in between us.

I would go with the colors black, grey, white, yellow, or green. otherwise people will think girl, they are super cute shoes but if you don't want to have confusion I'd try a different color.

Can you find darker purple?  My sons nursery is darker purple and gray. 1) purple is my favorite and I am forcing it on my unborn child despite the gender....cause I'm mom and it's what I want   2) the room was already painted but tried to make it more male friendly 
So for me I don't automatically jump at GIRL when seeing purple - but those lighter tones do tilt more toward the female persuasion.
