Sitting in poop ? How long before changing dirty diaper

Question

How long do you let your little one finish their business or let them sit in a dirty diaper ? 
Example - it’s 4:30 am I fed , changed a poopy diaper and got peed on - changed outfits and fed again and now I just heard a loud fart : more poop 💩 
Do you let him go back to sleep and change it in 2 hours or take off everything again and check and change again now ? He also cried 90% of the time in diaper changes so I’m tempted not to stir him up again and try to get to sleep - am I being a bad mommy not changing again now !?

I normally wait 5-10 minutes I've noticed that it's possible to wait just a little too long also and then you still end up catching them when they decide to pee or poop during the change anyways lol

Definitely change it. Sitting in it could lead to an infection.

My baby sometimes poops, waits a few minutes, poops, waits a little more, poops... we've had occasions with two, three and four iterations even. But after a few minutes of waiting I change the diaper. Even this way the changing table got pooped on, Dad got pooped on, Granny got pooped on, I got pooped on... and the fresh and clean new diaper got pooped in within five minutes.  
It's fine, they are newborns, their digestive system still has a lot of adjusting to do.  
I usually go diapers first and then feeding, so I'm not making her brim over while changing.  
If I hear pooping while she's eating, I consider the situation. One night she had a really hard time going to sleep, her tummy was bothering her. Finally she got calmed while eating, and a minute later I hear loud pooping (tit in the mouth, mind you). Two minutes later she was asleep. I put her into her bed because she really needed that sleep. But this happened just once, all other times as soon as I know about the poop I go and change her.

When changing baby boys I put a wipe on the penis if its sticking up, prevents being peed on. Because poo can burn their butt and cause diaper rash I only wait until he's done pushing and change it, even if that means I'm changing him again soon, but for me that doesn't matter as long as he's comfortable.  They make baby powder out of pure cornstarch now, (no longer that horrible talcum powder ew ) so I use that to prevent diaper rash too and seems to work,  plus the lavender one smells so good. :) But anyways I know people who wait and their babies are fine too so it's really just up to your judgement. If baby doesn't mind waiting a while then do what's best for you.

I just changed him 🙍🏻felt guilty as soon as i posted but I do feel like I change him all the time - how do I time it to catch all the poop in one instead of two diaper rounds

I wait less than two or three minutes and most the time just help her get the rest out by pushing up her legs and wiping. She only poops once a day though so I'm pretty lucky in that I'm not dealing with poop all day.

The longest I leave him is 15 minutes since he is developing a bit of a red patch, but that is only if I'm busy, otherwise ASAP.
I'm sure I have accidentally left him in his dirty diapers for an hour before (he farts a lot in his sleep so it's hard to tell - and waking him up to be changed means he stays up for an hour at least after) so I try to keep night time changes sparse.

Yep totally change it if there is a lot of poop. Sometimes my LO has a very small amount like a skid mark on his nappy and I dont stress about that but when he has pooped I tend to wait ten mins to make sure he has fully completed his pooping. I tend to change nappies half way through a feed otherwise I find he cries because he is hungry. At night I only change if he has pooped or nappy is very full as nappy changing is quite stimulating for him.

I wait 30 min after the first poop is heard. He usually has a few super gross sounding farts with little bits of poop come out, then about 5 min after that is when he actually starts to poop, then for the next 20 min he has lots more poop bursts as I like to call them. So I guess I just wait until he's done to change him lol. about 30 min start to finish. I've been pooped on too many times by changing too soon
