Have you heard of taking Synthroid to lose weight?

Someone told me lady Gaga is so thin because she takes Synrhroid without needing it. I'm pretty sure you can't just get a fake prescription for the stuff....but do people actually take it as a street drug to lose weight?

I am on synthroid. It is a thyroid stimulating medication and it does not make you lose weight. Your thyroid being within normal range regulates your body and weight control is one of the symptoms of thyroid issues. Controlling your thyroid doesn't mean the weight just falls off. Trust me, I gained over 80 lbs from this thyroid bs.

If you are taking too high of a dosage and it puts your thyroid into over drive yea you might lose weight. My dad is on it and his weight has fluctuated as they have regulated the dose.

If your dosage is too high, it can make you lose weight but it comes with side effects. When my levels are too high, I'm jittery and snap at everyone. It's not pleasant by any means.

I'm a nurse and if your thyroid level is too high it can actually kill u. It's called thyroid storm. If you don't need synthroid then people shouldn't be taking it. 😕

My mom is on synthroid...so she can keep weight on. I don't think it helps with weight loss.
