What are the meanings behind your tattoos?

My most recent tattoo holds a lot of meaning for me. I suffer from chronic illnesses and anxiety and it’s very debilitating sometimes. I got this tattoo as a part of the semi colon project which is very important to me, and the heart beat lines always remind me that I’ve lived another day and my heart keeps beating despite everything I’ve gone through. Anyone else have tattoos with inspiring meanings?

I adopted a little girl named Delores on November 19th of 2016. When I went to go pick her up from the shelter, I was informed that I had filled out her paperwork on her 2nd birthday, and that she was on the list for euthanasia the very next day because she had been born in the shelter and not gotten adopted for two full years. I I hadn't saved her, she couldn't have saved me. I love my Lady Nora Delores, she's my very favorite gift from God. my little miracle.

Even as little as 8 years old, we knew we wanted to get tattoos together because she always had this huge collection of temporary tattoos and we always used to give each other tats every time I slept over. So when we both turned 18 we finally decided to get tattoos together. When we were little we used to dance in the rain together (Hence the umbrella). And I moved during my first year of highschool so we've been long distance for a while now (Hence the quote "Is it raining where you are?"). Now that Im in college I dont see her or get to talk to her often so the tattoo is a reminder that she's always with me despite our distance.

We've been best friends for over 12 years now. ❤

when I was 13 I lost my aunt she like a mother to me, she always said she would have to be dying before she would get a tattoo. when she was diagnosed with cancer she went and got a tattoo of a dolphin so after she pasted in her memory I got the same dolphin tattoo

this is my second tattoo that I got about a month ago. my life was changing so much in such a short amount of time and I felt like I was spiraling out of control. this tattoo was a spur of the moment type of thing. I don't have a picture on my new phone of my first tattoo, however.

Roses are for my mother who passed almost 9 years ago when I was 14. That was my first. The tree is also related to my mothers death, in that her death is the root of my growth. I grew up fast, I am a better person because of her and her passing. Then there’s my beloved dragon. I got the dragon mostly because I just absolutely love them. They are beautiful, strong, spiritual, mysterious. My spirit animal ❤️ he is unfortunately in finished at the moment

I also got a semicolon tattoo, but with a bird as a symbol of freedom from my depression to go on top of old self-harm scars. I tried to make mine subtle because I am a therapist and did not want to disclose this to clients.
