Induction on due date and baby girl is here!

Anna

So I went in on my due date for induction as my blood pressure had been high, (I was induced for dd1 as well which was a 13 hour labour with the pitocin) So I was expecting a similar experience but hoping for a little shorter duration...

I arrived at the hospital and the dr came at 830am and broke my waters, she said I was already 4cm dilated and they got me hooked up to the pitocin and started it at 9am.

Almost instantly I started having contractions and within 30minutes they were coming hard and fast. I thought I must have been being a big sook begging for an epidural so early on (as I had lasted about 6 hours the first time without one) but it was full on! She checked me and I was 5cm and then one of the mws went off to find the anaesthetist and while she was gone for about 10 minutes things got serious FaST. The pitocin was turned off as i was labouring on my own.

I started having seriously painful back labour and was in intense pain. I was also super shocked that things were progressing this fast it was only 45minutes from first contraction!!!

The nurse came back and told me the anaesthetist was coming soon, and talked me into trying sterile water injections to apparently help the back labour. My god the needles hurt but I was amazed that in fact they did dramatically improve the pain in my back. I was a total sceptic haha

Anyway all of a sudden my body started involuntarily pushing which I had no control over. I was confused as the midwife had only just checked me and I was only 5cms. She then checked again and all of a sudden the room was full of midwifes and drs or whoever was there ready to deliver this baby.

I was screaaaaaming for the epidural and was told it was too late. I was demanding it and saying I couldn't do it without it ( I thought I was actually going to die lOl)

The midwifes told me that in less than 10 pushes there would be a baby, I didn't believe her and thought she was just lying to me.

But sure enough after an intense 10 or so minutes of pushing, and screaming down the labour ward out came baby Abigail, whole labor was 1 hour 20 minutes 😳

I was and still am embarrassed about how loud I was screaming and even pooped a little in front of a room full of people and my DP. The whole experience was quite traumatising and definitely wasn't the somewhat peaceful birth I had with my dd1.

So glad my beautiful girl is here ❤️
