Going off the pill

I was taking the progesterone only pill and the side effects were absolutely unbearable! The first month I had one day of my period where I lost so much blood I ended up in the hospital. The next month I spotted all month but never got a normal period. I went from being a positive, upbeat, confident woman to a negative really dark place. I decided that the side effects were too severe so I stopped it. Have any other women here experienced this? Did you stop the pill? Does anyone know how long it takes to return to your regular cycle? I know you CAN get pregnant immediately after you go off it, but, how likely is that? Any help is greatly appreciated! I'm currently in a foreign country and don't have access to my doctor. Please Help!
