Help me make the right decision please

To my eve family, I need your help to make the right decision.

Me and my boyfriend are having our 3 years anniversary in 10 days, so I want to buy a small meaningful gift and I will write him a letter either ( I do this every year ). And we wanted to go and celebrate in a hotel room (since we can't sleep in our parents house because we decided not to tell them about us until I finish my studying) the problem is that I need to pay for the hotel (hotels here are very expensive). Because he doesn't work (for a year now). But on the other hand I want to buy something that I waited so much to buy and when I can buy it now I have to pay for hotel and gift and food for our anniversary. I really want to buy it from the one hand since I waited a lot, but on the other hand I really want to spend the night with him (anniversaries are once a year so 🙄). Only if he could help me and pay for the hotel 😫 I don't know what to doooo !! I don't want to talk to him about work because I tried to and he gets hurt and defensive and it really hurt him.

I love him very much but lately it feels like I am being the man in the relationship !! I pay for hotels (we go to a hotel night once a month), I pay for restaurant, I buy gifts and I don't get gifts back.

I just don't know what I should doooo 😰
