little advice

so, last week I had an immensely heavy and painful period, went to my doctor and he said I was having a miscarriage, my bf and I didn't know I was pregnant until then, doc said I was in the first few weeks so it'll all be over once my period stops, but my bf said he thinks maybe I should come off the pill and we can just try and see what happens, has anyone any tips or advice? I'll be going my doc during the week to talk to him about it and see what happens?? I've been told by my cousin to go on folic acid straight away if I'm thinking of trying? x
