When to go to a fertility doctor?

My husband and I will have been ttc for a year next month. I’m 21 and my husband is 22. Period started today so I’m out for this month. I know that we are supposed to see a fertility doctor after a year of trying. I guess my question is, when did you start going to the fertility doctor? How long was you ttc? What did you do at your first appointment?

I’d call around now. It may take a while to even get an appointment. They scheduled me a month and a half out. (And this was the soonest I could find, she was a 2 hour drive from me. Everything closer had almost a 6 month waitlist) The first appointment was great. The doctor was so kind. She told me, you’re young and healthy.. we’ll get you pregnant one way or another don’t worry. She then talked about all the possibilities of why it might not have happened yet and all the options we have available. She talked about everything in detail and answered every question I had. I wish she wasn’t such a long drive away from me. I’ve had to switch to a closer doctor because of the commute and just hope they are like her.

I'm no longer ttc but
April 2016 marked a year for me and my husband TTC and in May or June he went get a semen analysis, they made him do that before they would even see me, when they did I believe they talked to me about my history and looked at my uterus in a ultrasound

I had been ttc for a while, had no luck then got really sick and quit trying... I ended up pregnant and had a miscarriage, had a dnc in august of last year, I've been trying again with no luck, so I set up an appointment and asked if there was any help I could get... he percribed me some infertility meds, so I start them this month when my period starts....the question is do you have regular periods ?
