A day off?

Question

So I breastfeed my 3 week old baby for almost all of his feedings and i pump after feedings about 4 times a day to build up a supply for when I go back to work. It's exhausting. Sometimes my son is on the boob for an hour and then to follow up with pumping to only have him be hungry again an hour later. Would it hurt my supply tremendously if I took 1 day off a week from pumping? I just feel like I need that 1 day for my sanity.

Likely it would. 
Why not just pump when you are at work? Milk is good in the fridge up to 8 days. A lot of moms just pump today for what baby’s need tomorrow.

You should get a milk catcher off amazon!!! I just got mine today and it's life changing. I tried a manual pump and it was too much effort for such a little amount so I gave up. Then I read about milk catchers. They are soft silicone pump looking things that you just suction onto the opposite breast during feeding and it literally just collects the milk! It's totally hands free and I am getting just as much as I was manually pumping but I don't have to do anything but suction the thing onto me. The ones I got where $10 for two with free prime shipping. They are amazing. I already have 4oz saved from two feedings (which is alot for me)

Are you going back to work soon or just saving up now? If you still have weeks before your going back to work i would cut yourself a little slack and not pump as often. once your little one isnt cluster feeding as much then start to sneak in pumpings here and there, then when you go back to work youll need to pump twice a day (based on am 8 hr) so youll be able to use those next day as well.

My lactation consultant said I could go 4 hours instead of 3. But that was my pumping schedule.   I wouldn’t go a whole day without nursing, but maybe go a day without pumping or vice versa!
