Steep b is a bacteria that lives on some humans. It's not harmful to adults but can be potentially harmful to a newborn. Pregnant women in the US are all tested for it. They test for it by swabbing your vagina and rectum. If you test positive it's no big deal, you are just given antibiotics during labor

I had strep b when I was pregnant they swabbed in there and just gave antibiotics when I was in labor. I had no symptoms. The doctor made it seem like it was common.
