Is it really cheating?

So my boyfriend of 1 year has been messaging women he has a friends on Facebook and talks to them.... well he doesn’t think I have a his password and I do because we women find these things out. I find him asking one girl to hang out and have dinner and go see a movie and one girl that he is single and has been for awhile now..... I confront him about it and he admits to it but nothing further then just talking to them thru Facebook... we at the moment are broken up because of what I found but we still talk and he knows he fucked up because he says to me every time before we get off the phone.... so I just want to know is it cheating if it really didn’t go any further then texting?
