Any stepmamas out there?

Question

As a stepmother myself and TTC I think brings different challenges that others don't understand.   Who is with me?  What challenges have you faced being a stepmother?  What joys?   I have an amazing 8 year old stepson and my husband and I are ttc for the first time (no children of our own).  Dealing with his ex is our biggest source of stress.  And I feel a bit jealous (and sad) that she was able to get pregnant by him (years ago...accidentally) and we haven't had any luck yet.  But my stepson is an awesome, loving and fun kid and we love spending time together.

I may become a stepmom soon (ongoing custody battle, depending on the outcome the two girls will come to live with us or stay with their mom). 
I get the jealousy thing too. It's silly, but you can't help how you feel. 
It's also that I don't really feel like I'm part of the family. It's him and his kids. And then there's me. I'm kind of a stranger in my own house. 
I don't have any kids from previous relationships and a lot of times I hear "you don't understand this because you're not a parent". This is painful because I want nothing more than to become a mom. 
It's a tricky situation that requires effort for sure.

Im a stepmom of four but two are in their 20s and then the 7yr old girl lives with us and the other is the 7yr olds lil sis. We have a baby due next month.

I am a step mom of a 13yr old boy and 4yr old girl..  My SO family says he is a fertile mertle... he didnt even try to have his and weve been trying for over a year with one miscarriage. his kids look just like him too. I feel jealous about it too but maybe its not my time.
