Listen to your kick counts! My birth story

El

I posted on Glow asking if I should go into the hospital on Sunday because I could find baby's strong heartbeat on my Doppler but I wasn't feeling any movement at 30 weeks. I was hesitant because my midwife has Commented before suggesting I take anxiety meds and thought it could be all in my head. It was Canadian thanksgiving after all and maybe baby was in a food coma like me 😜. She also called her husband in front of me talking about how bad she felt for her son who she had plans with but had to cancel because I went into the hospital.

Boy am I glad everyone said go in and I ignore the sighs and clear distaste my midwife was giving me about coming.

My placenta was failing and I didn't know. I went for an ultrasound on the 19th of

Sept and baby hadn't grown since then. He went from the 50% percentile for weight and height to the 10%. They did an NST and his heart rate kept dropping for extended periods of time. They had to do an emergency c-section under general anesthesia because they couldn't even wait for a spinal tap, his heart rate had become 60bpm. They told me if I had waited 24-48

More, he would have been a still born.

count your movements and NEVER let anyone make you feel like what your going through is all in your head or you're an inconvenience. Telling my midwife I'm going for an NST instead of asking her saved my baby's life ... hopefully ... at least it gave him a fighting chance 😔
