First dentist visit...when to schedule it?

I took my daughter when she was 11 months old. The dentist checked her teeth and had me hold her while he looked in her mouth. He didn't do a cleaning or anything but just looked in her mouth. I wanted her to get comfortable with the dentist and she's fine with going now, she's 7 years old and has no problem sitting in the chair through her cleaning or x-rays.

My oldest son recently had his first dental visit at 1 year old (he has six teeth). We took him to a pediatric dentist. He had his teeth brushed with both a regular toothbrush and an electric toothbrush. He also had fluoride treatment applied. He sat through the whole thing with no issues, he was so brave and mommy was so proud! The recommendation now is to start taking children to the dentist early to help prevent oral health problems from developing later on.

If i remember correctly, most dentist won't see them until they are 4 yrs old.

My daughter was 5.5! Lol Luckily her teeth are perfect and have nothing wrong. But I’d say 3 or older unless there’s just bad genetics that could be passed on.  I can’t imagine trying to get and baby or toddler to sit through that.  I’ll probably wait till my youngest is 4 or 5 unless her pedi recommends it.

I read at my doctors office that the first appointment should be at 6 months. I think that's when the teeth start coming out anyways but idk 🤷🏻‍♀️
