Should I get babies ears pierced?

Sweet girl is 10 weeks old and I am wanting to get her ears pierced... my mom didn't get mine done when I was a baby and I was sooo jealous of all my friends who got theirs done when they were babies. My mom said I could get them done if I wanted to, but I was too afraid... so long story short I didn't get them done until I was 18. I always swore if I had a daughter I would just get them done when she was a baby so she would never have to worry about it. Obviously people have A LOT of options about this... please don't be nasty, I just want to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

I don't see an issue with piercing them, I got mine done as a newborn, and will pierce my daughters when she comes.

I'd say yes. I would do it to my own daughters. They won't remember it and babies have a very high pain tolerance. If they want to have them removed they simply can take them off whenever they please and the skin will close up to some extent, if not completely.

I chose to never get mine pierced and I love that they aren't 🤷‍♀️ I'm glad my mom didn't do it before I had the choice. However, it's your baby, so it's completely your decision to make. I really don't think she will hold it agains you regardless

Were im from baby girls get them done in the hospital the day after they are born. Its pretty much standard practice. Every girl I ever met had her ears pierced and so did I. I did the same thing for my daughter. She is now almost 8 months and never had any issues with them. I personally have never had any issues with my earings, 28 years of having them. I guess I understand why some people say that they would rather wait until they child makes the choice but for me personally I would rather spare them the discomfort later in life.

If she wants them she can get them done later. Her body let it be her choice. My kids 8 my husband didn’t do it she asked but never been serious about it. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I say wait. It's not about saving her the pain later, or letting her decide she wants it. It's about the fact that, if you get it done as a baby, her earlobes could grow at different rates and ultimately end up uneven. It would look strange as an adult if one was higher than the other. I say this because mine were done as a baby and I didn't notice how uneven they were until I went to get a second hole done. It was hard to make them look even.

It’s up to you nothing wrong with doing it. My ears were pierced at a few months old and I don’t resent my mom or anything for it at all. I wanted to get my daughter’s ears pierced but my husband said to wait until she can decide so I don’t want to go against his feelings. I also look at it as one less thing to worry about. Cleaning, backs coming off the earring, irritation etc. So I don’t mind waiting but I think babies with it done look so cute !

You’ll have to clean them every day sometimes twice a day until they’re totally healed, even if you clean them they could still get infected and worse case scenario need antibiotics, they could get caught on something like clothing or blankets and rip her ear, she might grow up and not like them and then be left with a permanent hole for the rest of her life. Once you have considered all those things, if you can live with/handle all that then I’d say yes do whatever makes you happy! Don’t worry about what anyone else has to say. Your baby, you decide.
