Looong story ahead....

Finally my turn. These birth stories have really helped me prepare mentally for mine. Basically that anything can happen.

So Saturday morning 10/07 I woke up at 7am to some light period cramps. It happened the day before and stopped. So I thought nothing of it. Well throughout the day they stayed. They were about 20 mins to 30 mins apart and manageable. My husband and I were going to a formal charity event for the humane society that night. He's the president so we wanted to make an appearance. (My choice for us to go...he didn't push)

The cramping picked up a little in intensity but I was still fine. We were on our way there about 5:15pm arrived at 5:50pm. My cramps once we arrive we're starting to hurt and I had two women i knew start to time them. I thought they were being silly until I started to feel the cramps go to my lower back side as well. I got my husband and we went home.

By the time we got home they HURT. They were also coming every 3 to 4 minutes lasting around 50sec to 1min long. We called and the on call practitioner told me to go take a bath and drink a liter of water I did all this and was in pain that was increasing in intensity. I also lost my mucus plug in the bath. So we called her back and she was being so wishy washy about wether I should go in or not. Then I made that decision and told my husband to get the car ready.

We get to the hospital and I'm 5cm. They admit me and get me to a room, doc comes in a breaks my water. I get the epidural and yeah it only worked on my left side. The anesthesiologist came to re-check and reposition it but said she saw blood was coming out so it could be near a vein so didn't want to risk it. So I had it re-done all through my contractions. Then it only numbed my belly not my nether regions too. 😒 so not only was I feeling them the epidural slowed down my progress. They started me on pitocin. I had numerous anesthesiologist come in and give me "the good stuff". That didn't work neither. They were baffled and said it only happens to a "small" percent.

Then they noticed my baby was not coming down the birth canal straight (that her head was tilted). She was fine and still happy inside however it was looking more toward a c-section. I labored for 16hours and progressed to 8cm. Then after a while we made the decision for a c-section since nothing was improving.

I was scared. We get all ready and they start. I felt SOOO much pressure and pulling at my body I thought they were going to lift me off the table. I finally hear her screaming and I start bawling crying. So does my husband. It felt like it took awhile to get her out and to stitch me up. She was born 10/08 at 2:11pm at 8lbs 1ounce. Still at the hospital until Thursday 10/12. It's been a rough couple days learning to breastfeed and all. We over the moon for our little girl.
