When/how did you find out the gender?

I'm trying to decide if I want to do the blood test for genetic abnormalities and find out the gender early, or if it's smarter/safer to wait until the ultrasound. Thanks!

I payed for an ultrasound at 16 weeks at one of those places that do it for fun, not medically.

Blood test is totally safe.  And genetic testing can help you feel more secure about the potential of a healthy pregnancy if that's a concern.  We did the Panorama test at 10 weeks and found out we're having a healthy baby boy which really eased my mind since I'm in the over 40 crowd.
