Has anyone been on airlines with baby?

Question

In two weeks we’ll be flying to Texas, and one of our flights is 2 and a half hours long 😳😖 My husband isn’t going, unfortunately. 
Any tips?? My sons 6 months and super grabby and is not one to just sit on a lap, he’s gotta be on the go. And grabbing EVERYTHING. I’m so worried. He’s EBF, and I nurse without a cover so hopefully no one around me is offended or they’ll get an earful lol. Hey enjoys these cheese crunches so I’ll be bringing those. 
Any other tips or tricks or advice? 😰

Have toys and such easily accessible. Also snacks for yourself. Wipe down everything around you before you get settle bc baby will be touching everything. Aisle seat is ideal for getting up and walking with LO.

feed him while the plane is ascending and descending. Infants can't pop their own ears so it's really painful for them but the sucking causes their ears to pop. I bought a ton of toys for our first flight was 5 hours with my six month old and it was such a waste of space LOL. honestly, you aren't going to know how your baby is going to be in you're in the situation. my son is the same as yours, very grabby and absolutely hates being forced to sit in someone's lap. he was an absolute Nightmare on our first flight. everybody including the pediatrician said don't worry it'll be better than you think and I said no I know my son. So I packed some Benadryl LOL and thank God I did because it ended up being the only way to get him to stop screaming. so I don't care what anyone tells you, have some in your carry-on! but on the way home, he was playing with only my husband, and apparently he was a total dream. I think the difference was the time of the flight. On the first flight we went very early in the morning and it messed up his sleep. The other was in the middle of the day. No more early morning or night. but don't stress. That's the number one thing. No matter what happens it's going to be over eventually and nothing is the end of the world

We took our guy from LAX to Philly for a wedding when he was 12 weeks and just got back from Hawaii last weekend. My husband was with me so it made it easier and we bought the baby his own seat. When we went to Philly he slept most of the way there and back and I fed him on take off and landing, he never cried but he is not much of a cried normally. This last trip we took he was almost 5 months older and so much more active. He didn't want to stay in his seat and wanted to jump around in our laps and see everyone. The way  back was much easier and he slept most of the way. If you're going to be alone I would gate check your stroller and wear him onto the plane. My son had blow outs each time except the last flight, once on me while I was breastfeeding.  Bring extra clothes for both of you, extra wipes, etc.  I also used the arm and hammer wipes as he kept throwing his toys and binkies on the floor. I have nursing shirts and sweaters that make it easier to nurse without using a cover. I was also pleasantly surprised by how nice everyone was and happy to talk to my guy, most people have kids of their own and totally get it. Also baby rusks helped keep him busy. good luck to you!

My daughter is 7 months old and we have been on 6 flights! 
First tip! Stay calm, arrive early so you don’t rush 😊 Feeding on the way up and down is best! I don’t let my daughter fall asleep once we get to the airport so when I feed her on flight she sleeps. Snacks are very helpful to kill time and give them something to do. Maybe buy a new toy that he will be interested in for a while? PACK ZIPLOCK BAGGIES! My daughter exploded on 2 of our flights and I saw this tip ahead of time, I am SO happy I packed the baggies and extra outfit! Lol Aisle seating is best so you can get up if needed, and my daughter also played peek a boo with people around (anything to keep them busy!!!) lol. I bring a blanket and small toys so she can stretch, crawl, and play before the flight. I like to bring my stroller into the airport and leave it plane side for them to check so that I don’t have to carry my diaper bag or backpack, it’s handy to dump your stuff into and I put my daughter in my carrier (esp going thru security). 
Don’t worry about people around you, from my experience everyone is helpful and get it!!  (a few ladies and flight attendants have held my daughter so I can get my bag under the seat, sit and buckle up). No one has every given me evil looks or comments. Most people have been there done that! So they know what it’s like travelling with babies. People saw that I will put effort into calming my daughter when she’s fussy ... singing her favourite songs, clapping hands, etc. So no one was annoyed I was just letting her cry. My daughter loved picking and touching the airplane cards and magazines in the pocket so I let her pick away, and at one point I had a toy attached to a pacifier clip so I clipped it to the cards so she could hit, chew and play with the toy. 
I let the flight be “our time” babies love one on one time with their Mamas so I give my daughter extra fun and attention and I think she felt it ❤️

I had the same fear as you when my boyfriend & I planned trip with my mom to go florida. It was my first time taking our son on plane (he was 4 almost 5 months). I was worried he be to fussy and nothing will calm him down while we in air and he would cry the whole way there. But it was totally opposite. He was just as much as himself. If he did get cranky we would put Elmo on or baby movie on to entertain him or stand up with him walk in aisle. The good thing is, I was worried when or if he fell asleep where would I put him because I know my arms would get tired holding him(but if I had to of course I wouldn’t mind) but lucky we didn’t have totally full fight so we asked if we can have the car seat with us. So we did. I put him in it while he slept. Most babies are okay because it’s kinda relaxing to them like a car ride would be. Also, which I didn’t know. Give yourself enough time to airport. They checked everything( stroller plus all baby stuff) at security. So if ur airport security is busy location then I would keep that in mind.

Just had my second trip with my 7mo son by myself. Feed him or give him a bunk if he takes one  for takeoff and landing and try to keep him awake so he sleeps on the flight. Mine slept the whole 2.5 hours. 
Also CHECK YOUR STROLLER. I know it sounds like a pain but for security, you have to out the stroller through the X-ray machine so it’s a huge pain. I just wore my kid in the ergo and it was much easier.

We've done round trips from SoCal to Seattle, New Hampshire, and Florida. 
Give yourself enough time to get through security, bags check etc. we cut it close for one flight and it's better to have some breathing room :) 
Pack whatever you think he might want to play with. It's a short flight, he might nurse and fall asleep. Also pack an extra shirt for yourself - you might not need it but you know if you don't pack it he'll spit up on you lol
If you have a carrier or sling, that's the easiest way to get on and off the plane. My experience has been that when I pick up the seat and stroller they leave it at the gate - it's hard to get everything situated on that small area. It's easier to carry everything if he's strapped to you.
Be relaxed :) babies know when you're stressed out or anxious. He's either going to be a perfect angel or he's going to lose it - just remember he's a baby, the flight doesn't last forever, babies cry. The more relaxed and smiley you can be, he won't pick up on how stressful it can be. You got this 👍🏼

I traveled with the car seat and stroller and gate checked those (they will let you board before the rest of the plane so you have time to get settled).  I brought the nursing boppy on the plane with me because it made it much more comfortable to have him, sit, lay, whatever while that was on my lap. When I traveled without it, my arms and back were killing me. Put down the armrest and use that under the boppy for support. The boppy also offers a little more protection against your neighbor...my baby is a kicker when he eats and this softened the blow for the passenger next to me (also so he didn't kick the armrest). 
Also, bring several toys because your baby will drop them and you probably won't want to give it back to him/her once it touches anything in the plane or airport. I actually found it easier to travel by myself then with my husband because people and the workers were SO helpful because they see that you're alone. 
I only used the diaper bag as my carry on and put my wallet and phone in there. This made it easier to move. When it was time to Board, I carried my baby in my baby bjorn. This way I was able to fold up the stroller and car seat with no problems. 
Take a look around the airport...the people who have it most together are the moms traveling with their kids alone! You got this.

I had to fly with my son a few months ago and we had a connection.. you should look and see if the airport you’re connection is at has a nursing room. Ours did and it was so nice! As far as the plane, nurse on take off and landing like everyone else said. The flight attendants were very helpful and they actually changed my seat so I didn’t have to sit next to anyone else. I nurse without a cover too. My son actually slept for a good portion of the flight, I think the engine sounds lulled him to sleep. I was prepared for the worst but it honestly wasn’t bad at all lol. Definitely feed him during take off and landing. My little boy went straight to sleep when we flew to Portland it was about a 2 hr flight. I wore him in his carrier through security and while we waited to board and he really liked that. I also bought him a new toy that I gave him while we were on the plane and he loved it! Hope this helps!
