Does the IUD hurt?

I’m thinking about getting the IUD but worries about the pain as I’ve heard it hurts a lot when it gets put it. Can anyone who has it tell me if it’s painful??

It kinda feels like a bad cramp, but it literally only lasted about 30 seconds for me. I got it right after I had my first, and had it for a little over two years. By an hour after getting it couldn’t even notice it was there

My IUD was the worst experience ever. Worst that child birth. First my cervix wouldn't open so they had to clamp my cervix which hurt so fuckin bad. That's when I started feeling nauseous and hot like I was going to pass out. Then they had to use a dialator to be able to insert the IUD. I was at the Drs well over an hour after insertion because I keep feeling like I was going to pass out. I still have my period a month later. It seems the more active I am the more I bleed. Or if I bend over or any activity that puts pressure on my uterus. 
It's messed with my sex life that's for sure.
I'm not sure if I will ever get another IUD because this one was absolutely HORRID!

Not painful with insertion or after. But,  I have a 2 month old. Just take ibuprofen or tyenol a hour, before the procedure.

If you've never had kids it hurts worse. I can handle pain pretty well but I almost passed out from the pain. I had to have my boyfriend come pick me and spend the day with me because I was in pain all day. Getting an IUD was the worst thing I ever did for myself. My experience kept going down hill from there. They are SO not worth it. I sucked it up and starting taking a pill everyday.

I had mine placed today, and I don’t have children. Honestly, it definitely hurt, not for very long just when they placed the iud in. The cramping isn’t something unbearable just heavy cramps like bad period cramps!

I've had 2 inserted and both times it was short intense cramps lasting about 2-3 seconds, then Norma period cramping for a few hours. Some have cramping for longer. But honestly very worth it to me

Mine hurt a lot, but like 5 minutes. I haven't had any kids either but if you've had kids it's more likely to hurt less. I also get a pain reaction where I was dizzy, hot, and nauseous for a good 30 minutes afterwards. They gave me water and let me wait it out until I could get up and go. The next 2-3 days I cramped like bad period cramps. I usually naturally have very small cramps on my period so I also wasn't used to a lot of pain there. It's been 2 months and I love having it and was worth the small amount of pain

Everyone’s experience is different. My insertion was no worse than my period cramps.

well I've had two kids and from what I've been Told by friends who don't They were in pain.  Personally I think the only painful part is when they use this clamp on your cervix other than that it was a breeze and some period like cramps right after
