My Infertility and Birth Story a year later!

Gina

Growing up I was a late bloomer. Didn't start my period until I was 14. I was put on birth control at 15 for my extremely irregular periods. I was diagnosed at 16 with PCOS and told I would probably have trouble having children. I met my husband when we were in high school so we've been together for 16 years total but married for 5 years. Right after we got married in September of 2012 we started trying for a baby. We waited a year before we sought help at our OBGYN. She did an ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis of PCOS and placed me on Clomid, Metformin and Progesterone. We spent a year trying this before she referred me to a Reproductive Endocrinologist. We had our first appointment in June of 2015! My husband was tested and his came back normal, I was given an HSG to check for abnormalities in my uterus and Fallopian tubes, it came back normal! Only thing holding us back was my PCOS. I was put back on Progesterone and Metformin but was given Letrizole instead of Clomid. The first 3 months were

a bust, I was ovulating just not getting pregnant. I also didn't have to take the Progesterone after the first cycle because my cycles started on there own with just the Letrizole! In December of 2015 I took an ovulation test on the 14th that showed a spike! With this knowledge and my cycle finally being in a regular pattern, I knew the earliest I could test was December 24th. I got up that morning and did my duty like every other month, I have to admit at this time I was beginning to lose hope. We had been at this for 3 years total. I was broken down, I just felt broken. There was something different about this test though! There was a very faint second line that had always been absent from very single other test I had took before! I was in shock, I wasn't instantly happy and overjoyed! I was blown over in shock! I calmly walked into our bedroom and handed the test to my husband. I asked him if he saw what I thought I was seeing! His answer was I think we need to buy a digital! The digital confirmed on Christmas morning that our prayers were answered! We had our first OB appointment at the beginning of January 2016 I was 5 weeks. Our OB that had referred us to the specialist wanted me in ASAP. We only saw the yolk sack at that ultrasound and she determined placement of baby. We went back a week later and saw the baby, heartbeat and were given a due date of September 5th 2016! I had an easy pregnancy, some mild food aversions. Found out in March that our miracle would be a boy! I started having issues at 32 weeks. I had pelvic pressure and pain, Braxton Hicks contractions and I lost my mucous plug. Unfortunately, I ended up with a nurse practitioner who blew me off, I had 3 appointment within a weeks time before

I had my son at 35 weeks. At those appointment I was checked and had made progress but was never offered the shots to mature his lungs. I was just told that I could be in that condition for weeks. Weeks was exactly a week! My water broke at 35 weeks gestation and I was induced because my labor wasn't active enough to have him within 24 hours. Either way my baby boy was born August 1st 2016 at 7:20 pm after 13 1/2 hours of labor. He weighted 6 pounds exactly and was 19 inches long! He spent 6 days in the hospital 3 days in the nursery and 3 days in the room before we were released to come home! I was told that since I had PCOS I might not be able to breastfeed, but here we are 14 months down the road and still going strong! My son is off the growth chart even with his early beginning! Don't give up momma's! Your miracle is just around the corner! I was almost ready to give up when I got mine!
