45 years for thinking of 'doing' the dead..

Okay, so it's a bit more than the title suggests. I thought it was really interesting.

A man has been sentenced for 45 years not for having sex with corpses, but for having a desire for it.

He's said to some people that he will kill them and then have sex with them. Though he hasn't acted on this. He's seen a number of psychiatrists who have all given him an approval of sanity, so he's not actually entitled to any psych help. The judge deemed him a risk to public safety and sentenced him to 45 years in prison.

Can a completely sane person be this messed up?

Is necrophilia a mental disorder?

Did the judge make the right call?

I personally think he would have benefited more from a high security section. Okay, I don't know more than a psychiatrist, but surely this man's brain needs correcting somewhere, no?

The man himself said that he should be locked away. So I did initially wonder if he actually wanted to be imprisoned for some reason. That was until I saw his photo.. I'm not sure what a necrophiliac looks like, but he definitely looks like one.

He was initially serving time for being caught in possession of a knife, in a public place.

You know that fear of just not knowing what kind of person you end up with? It's common to hope that you don't end up with a paedo or rapist or whatever, but this one has never crossed my mind. 😷
