😩😞 What is going on?!

Breanna

Last night around 6:30 I began to have intense contractions (I thought) I felt a lot of pain in my lower abdomen , back and hips . I felt more pressure than I had ever felt before in my bottom . I am a high risk patient because of my chronic hypertension . I got to the hospital and my blood pressure was 171/95 . I was in so much pain . They gave me pain medicine , took blood and urine . All the tests came back normal and with the help of some BP meds and IVs my blood pressure finally went down . I have been dilated to a 3 for about a month now with all the pain I was in I could have swore that it was time . Only to have the doctor tell me what I was experiencing was " normal stretching pains in pregnancy " feeling really confused and really stupid I went home . I'm 36 weeks this Sunday ... I'm still cramping and I'm in a lot of pain , I lost my plug about a week ago and now I just lay here . " You will know when you are in labor "

I am afraid I have no idea what's going on with my body ... I am afraid that my BP will get too high if I wait long enough to " Know " and it will be a bad situation .... My doctors are no help and they just keep telling me " you will know the difference " I'm a first time mom , and I really don't think I will. I was told to not wait until my water breaks because the way she's positioned already they expect delivery to go quickly ... I'm told to wait until I have contractions that are 2 minutes apart and unbearable ( last night )

What do I do ?

I'm so confused and getting scared about what's going to happen 😞

I had horrible contractions last night too.. so much lack of sleep from last night and it amounted to nothing! I’m so over it

Not everybody's water breaks, so that's not always an indicator. If you were not high-risk I'd say that you should wait until your contractions are 5 minutes apart before going to the hospital, but you are. I don't know what's the time frame for a high-risk, because obviously if your blood pressure goes up then you have to go in sooner. I would say: rather go in and be sent home than have your BP raise to very high levels. I've been to L&D; twice and felt stupid each time I went. They certainly don't help if you're not in labour, they made feel like I was crazy for being there in the first place but like you I'm a first time mom and it's very hard to know what is and isn't normal. I'll be 36 weeks tomorrow.

Said did I ever have burning or itching I said no they said those are two big symptoms of a yeast infection and if all I ever had was discharge then I probably never had yeast .

Yeah mixed information from them and my doctors , went in for heavy contractions last week they told me I had a yeast infection so they tell me to use Monistat 3 . I use all the medication and still have the same symptoms . I go to my doctor they tell me because I never had a yeast infection it's normal discharge they test me and everything is normal .

They seem to be giving you mixed information. One moment is don't come in, you're not in labour and the next is that your baby would have come early. Seems like you were right to go in in the first place. You know your own body, they can't feel what you're feeling. I would say err on the side of caution and go in too early than too late.

Can't comment on the high risk thing other than to say I wouldn't wait as long as they're saying! But I'm same as you on the pain and contractions front. Been having various period pains, contractions and back ache along with super active painful baby movements for past week every night from 10pm-1am but by morning it's all passed. I had a second episode at 4am this morning - really painful contractions for two hours, convinced it was starting for real and by 6am it then stopped. It's literally so frustrating and knackering. No point going to hospital cos it's not consistent but boy is it tiring me out.

2 minutes and unbearable contractions is waiting too long imo... I went in with my first the moment I timed my contractions at 5 minutes apart lasting 1 minute. They were no where near unbearable but they kept me at L&D.; I was 5cm dilated.. with you being high risk I’d go in before the contractions are that close together. If you feel that something is up, I would go in. Yes you may feel stupid when they turn around and send you home but at least you’re being proactive about it. At least you can KNOW that you and the baby are okay at that moment. If you stay at home when you’re feeling that way you never know what could happen. I think the whole “you will know the difference” is bs. My contractions were extremely mild compared to what I was expecting with my first.

Yea girl!! I would just keep bugging them whenever you feel it’s worth going in lol.

Exactly! And also how do they expect me to know when this is my very first pregnancy? Sometimes I have contractions In my NST and I can't even feel them . I have no clue I'm even having one

I will say, you will know when you have the real deal. It is hard the first time though. You mentioned only lower abdomen and back and hip pain. But with real full contractions you will feel your whole stomach (uterus) contracting, not just lower. Or it could be back labor which is what I had and that’s just a whole different ballgame of pain and you’ll definitely know and feel that!
