Contraction question

For those of you who aren’t first time moms, is it possible to feel intense contractions one side? Or I guess has anyone experienced that. I keep getting an intense pain on my right side, granted that is the side she likes to have her back against. I was just wondering. I’m 37 weeks today and since late yesterday evening I just don’t feel well. Just overall off, my lower back was hurting all night and that pain kept coming and going, movement seems to make it worse.
