My Birth story 🎀or💙

Nicole

Better late then never! My due date was September 7th but due to gestational diabetes my doctor decided we would be induced on August 24th, 2wks early. The night before my adorable husband made 2 shirts one pink and one blue to inform our family of the gender of our little one! I was team boy and he was team girl! The next morning we had an ultrasound and NST scheduled at 10am and were scheduled to check into the hospital at noon. In the car on the way to the appt my husband says what would you do if they changed their mind and send you home. I said I'm all packed and mentally prepared for this, I would hurt someone! So we get to the doctors office and start our ultrasound. The tech asks if we are excited that we are getting so close and I tell her that we are getting induced at noon! We move on the the NST and wait for the doctor to come in to review. He comes in sits down and says don't be mad at me but I had to cancel you. He most have seen the look on my face because he started explaining himself quickly. The labor and delivery floor was over booked and I would have to wait to be called in, he did inform me that he had spoken to the hospital and told them that I needed to be the first person called in. After hearing that I felt a little better. So my husband and I head home for some lunch and I decided to take a nap thinking it would help the time go by faster. I wake up at 3:30pm and decided to call the hospital to see if there were any updates. They tell me if I don't hear back by 6pm to call back in. I sit around for a while longer and decide I'm going to take my last relaxing bath for a while. As soon as my tub fills up my phone rings and they ask that we be there at 6pm! We head to the hospital and start to get settled in. My dr comes in around 7pm and inserts the cervidil and tells me to get some rest he will be back at 7am to remove it. I could not get any rest, the bed was horrible and around 3:30am I start to get really uncomfortable. Around 7:30am my doctor arrived and removed the cervidil and broke my water. This was the worse part of labor for me, I was trying to crawl of the table while he kept apologizing to me telling me that he knew it was awful. Before the doctor leaves the room he tells me he will see me again around 5-7pm for delivery because I was only 2cm dilated. At this point I was allow to take a shower when I was done my husband helped me dry off and get back to bed. The nurse came back in to help me get hooked back up to the machines and while she is cutting the plastic wrap off my arm she cuts the tubing on accident. Fluids start spraying everywhere like crazy and blood starts pouring out of my arm! The nurse quickly runs out of the room to get a new tube and runs back in. She fixed the problem and then changes all of my bedding that was now covered in blood. This is when they started the Pitocin. By 10am I asked for the epidural and then I was finally able to get some rest. At 1pm I informed the nurse that I was starting to feel pressure in my bottom and she told me that was normal and she would check me at 2pm like the doctor asked. A half hour goes by and she comes back in and I inform her that the pressure is getting worse. She decided to check me and while doing so ask that I hit my call light. Another nurse comes over the intercom and my nurse ask that she contact my doctor and let him know it's time that I am already 10cm dilated. I turn to my husband and say call our parents! My doctor arrives and make a joke about what happened the the time frame we had planned! I start pushing around 1:50pm and by 2:15pm our surprise gender baby was here! My husband turns to me and with so much shock and surprise in his voice he says It's a boy!! Hudson Christopher arrived on 8/25 at 2:15pm weighing 7lbs 9oz and 19.75in long!
