TTC without proper financial means?

A friend of ours is in the "not trying but not preventing" stage of ttc. But essentially, they want a baby. The problem is every time she comes to me with her questions I kind of squirm because her sentences are always followed by "we'll co-sleep so we dont need to buy a crib", or "the hospital will just give us a carseat", or "I'll just sign them up for CHIPS because we don't have insurance". I asked her last week if they had money to buy any of it just incase she can't get assistance, and all she said was "kind of, but they're not just gonna turn a baby down". I struggled getting pregnant, I know the pain of wanting a baby so badly, but it kills me not saying anything to her. I feel like a terrible person and friend wrapped into one.
