Plumbing question ?

Does anyone know if some toilets don't run on gas if that makes sense idk how to explain it honestly we didn't really understand the manager

For months theres been a nasty smell from our toilet all the time even if it hasn't been used at one point last week it made the whole bathroom smell I did my own research and it says it could be sewer gas that needs to be fixed asap because its dangerous to smell well my husband went to the manager and told them and they told him no it can't be that because they don't use gas the only place they use gas is in the pool and the maintenance guy was there and said the same thing they still didn't say if they were gonna come check it out or not I have children so that's why I'm worried on top of being a hypochondriac and have severe anxiety and ever since there's been new management and new maintenance they are not the best 😐😐 so does anyone know anything about this ?
