Crib Mattresses?!

Question

So our first is due in February and we need a mattress for her crib😬 How do you choose? There’s so many out there and they are priced anywhere from like $20-$280😳 which ones have y’all had success with? Preferably under $70(unless there’s good reason to exceed that). Her crib goes all the way to a toddler bed if that matters any! Thank you😊

We have a Naturepedic mattress. This is my opinion on the subject. I would try to not one using polyurethane foam . Many of them use this  foam on the inside. They usually have an off-gas kind of smell in the beginning and that just can’t be good . I would look for a green guard certified one. Preferably with cotton filling. A mattress is a place a baby will spend a lot of time on so I would rather spend $250 for something I know if safe and high quality and cut back financially on some of the other things.

So you want a very firm mattress. We went around feeling them and some of the $50 ones had sooo much give it was scary. Higher density foam or high coil count. We also got one that will flip to the other side that is meant for toddlers. We registered for ours and got it as a gift. It would have been $130 but it was also the low allergen kind, green mattress, waterproof tops, two in one bed. They say to spend the most as an adult on two things shoes and mattresses to keep yourself healthy.

I got the one with the sheeps for both my kids (forgot the name) it's perfect in my opinion. Super durable and long lasting. Also when something spills on it like pee or whatever you wipe it clean

we're getting one that claims it's cooling and has good reviews. we're due in January but he won't be in his crib until May so going into the warmer months it will help

We have a Graco mattress that came rolled up in a box, definitely under $70. Baby’s 13 months old now and it’s been wonderful for us. It unrolled nicely. It’s firm and he has no problem sleeping. It’s easy to get sheets on it. It came with a waterproof pad too.

bought a Serta from walmart 3 years ago for 75 bucks and my son still uses it on his toddler bed. best buy ever

I got one of the best reviewed ones on amazon for around $52 I think? It has TONS of reviews! It’s been great. No issues- still firm and baby is 2 years old now. Not “crinkly” at all. It fits fine in our standard IKEA crib.

Always check out the reviews from other parents,  that way you can get a better idea what others thought of it during use. My husband and I decided to go with a duel-sided mattress. One side is firm for newborn/infancy and the other is a little softer for toddler. Considering the crib we purchased is a 4-in-1, we wanted to invest in a mattress that would grow with our daughter.
