What are your opinions people posting pictures of your baby on social media?

I'm just curious to hear some of your opinions/stories because I am expecting my first born this December (baby girl 😊) and yes, I do have social media but don't use it very often at all. Both of my accounts are completely private and have strict settings so I know exactly who is seeing what I post. And my husband & I don't plan on posting pictures of her, we will obviously send them to family.  With that said, should I tell people we would appreciate if they didn't post pics of our little one? I've always been paranoid about weirdos/pedophiles and figure why risk it? Why risk someone being able to see a picture of my baby? Some people have "friends" or "followers" that they really don't know. If you think this is dumb then I don't really care for rude comments. I'm a new to be mom and I'm concerned. I would just really appreciate some advice or stories on how you might have handled this or think it could be handled when talking to family members. Luckily there are only a few family members in particular I have to worry about. Thanks in advance ladies!

I don't like it for 3 reasons:
1) when you post you are giving that platform rights to the images. 
2) people can easily steal your images
3) the child didn't have a say in being shared on social media 
   
IMO I think kids in the background are ok, or an occasional post. I don't think it is necessary to constantly post about them.

I don't post pictures of anyone's baby. I don't even post pictures of my baby sister. 
As a rule of thumb, I generally would ask parents consent to share. But even then, unless you're a close family friend or family member I think it's weird.

I don’t mind the odd pic here and there tbh but I won’t be someone who consistently posts pics of my baby every day. Totally a personal decision, and while people should absolutely respect that, I think you’ll find that many won’t consider your parenting decisions. It can be frustrating but stay firm. 
P.S. here’s my girl Emery, born on 10/10 at 10AM. She’s so cute that I’m tempted to post pics all the time. I choose to send them to friends and family instead though

In my opinion I wouldnt. Even if you have private settings you never know whos going to copy your photo fm tour friends list. I think its overrated, there R some that post 24/7, like holly cow get over yourself.. It violates the infants privacy.. If I want family members to see a picture I would send it to there cell phone and not just any relative either....

I told friends and family absolutely no photos of the baby on social media or they won't get baby photos, and nobody had a problem. I'm rarely on social media and I also have everything on lockdown. Everyone has to understand your desire for privacy.

I won't be allowing it.
I don't have social media, I don't want my photos on social media, and I don't want my child's photos on social media. 
If anyone posts them without my permission they simply won't see my child. My child my choice.
That being said I've given everyone fair warning, and let them know they can text each other/other family members pictures, and have hard copies.
I don't think social media is essential to life, and I think it causes more problems than good, so until my child is much older I don't want her involved with it. When she gets to the age where she wants to have it or is considering it we can have a discussion about it and set up some rules then- or of course she can wait until she's an adult.

I do post pics of my daughter, but completely respect if you're not comfortable with it. I always ask before posting a picture of someone else's child. If you aren't posting pics of your child, I would definitely make a specific request to your family to abide by the same rule.

The only time its bothered me is when my childs father asked me to send him a picture of our daughter, then he posted it on facebook like he was the one who took it when in reality he hasnt seen her in a week 🤦🏼‍♀️

I don't post pictures of my kid so I don't want other people to do it either. I wouldn't ever post pictures of someone's baby on social media. IMO that's always for the parents to do or not do.

Only my parents and my inlaws. That's it though. I know they only have actual friends as their friends, and their profiles are private. So I have no issue.
Other than that, no.
