Midwife overly concerned with weight?

I’m 20w+2d and have gained exactly 0lb during my pregnancy so far.

During my intake appointment at 6w, the Midwife gave me the details of a dietician and recommended I go along to ensure I don’t put on any more than 15lb during the pregnancy.

Now I understand it’s important to not gain too much given my higher BMI. But I’ve been fat my whole life and it’s not through lack of education or knowledge that a dietician would provide, so I decided not to go.

Fast forward to my 20w check up I was made to feel like I was letting my baby down by not seeing the dietician...even though I’ve not put on any weight 🙄 She kept pushing it until I caved in and said I’d go. I walked away from the appointment being made to feel ashamed.

I knew being overweight and pregnant would suck sometimes, but I’m having a healthy pregnancy so far and just wish they wouldn’t be so focussed on my weight at every appointment. Sigh.

Is anyone else having similar weight-shaming issues with Midwives or Doctors? I’d love to hear how you handle this!
