(Trigger warning: topics of sexual assault) Is the "me too" movement a positive step?

Do you agree with this person's stance on the me too movement? Or do you believe it's a positive step for people to speak up about their experiences?

I have seen men speak up about it though in my feeds. Apologizing for their behavior, or sharing stories themselves.

I think both are right. It doesn’t sound like she’s saying people shouldn’t talk about their experiences, simply that they shouldn’t HAVE to, which is true, and the only way to get to the point were we don’t have to talk about it, IS to talk about it.

I think both should happen. 
It is shown that people become more comfortable in speaking about their own trauma when others speak up. I think survivors need that support. 
Equally, we should actively be pointing out harassment and rape. We should be pointing out behaviours before they develop into harassment or rape. People need to be held accountable.

the person who raped me is now happily married with children and lives in another city & im pretty sure his wife doesn't know or sue would've never given him children (I was 6 at the time) and there's nothing I can do about it so yes I do believe men should disclose this information or how about not be abusive at all

the conversation definitely has to happen, it's annoying we have to tell the stories to validate the issue instead of just saying there's a friggin issue. It's annoying there's men thinking we should be taking these interactions as compliments.

I have spoken and posted Me too on my status but not the amount of times or what has happened. I see it as a way to show solidarity to fellow women who have been there. I have also seen men speak up about it as well. It shouldn’t just be about women because men get sexually assaulted too.

I feel that this movement can Really open up people’s eyes to how many people are affected. I love the idea, now if only parents and schools would better educate on what sexual harassment and assault really is maybe there wouldn’t have to be so many victims!

Tbh as someone who has been in a couple abusive relationships where one of them involved sexual assault, I agree with the Twitter screenshot. 
 While I refuse to give away that information on other social media with more personal information, I do appreciate that there are people who share these experiences with and the support is nice, in a way. 
But at the same time, sexual assault is a well known issue and is an epidemic. Everyone knows that it's a problem. Which means there are a lot of people who do not care about it or are perpetrators of sexual assault. It's important to focus on holding them accountable, too. We should not have to disclose personal information in hopes of having a couple dudes /probably/ sympathize with us.
