cerclage mums?

i had my cerclage fitted yesterday (21w1d as i had shortened to 2.7cm and had a previous preterm labour at 24w2d) my belly pains seem to have died down now and im being allowed to go home this afternoon im just wondering what to expect? whats normal and what things should i look out for etc? any advice at all welcome. thanks

You won’t even notice you have the cerclage, I had mine preventative put in at 16w and am now 25w. Every once in a while I feel like a pain inside my vagina, and my Doc said it’s just the stitches that can cause it bc it’s obviously a foreign thing down there! I had my cerclage removed today at 37w 1d. The procedure was very low key. They used a speculum to give them access to my cervix. It was a single snip. I felt a bit of tugging but no pain. I'm feeling slightly crampy now. My doctor said that my cervix is closed and that it still has some length. The whole thing was less than five minutes.

I had mine places at 22 weeks. It was a total shock for us to learn that my cervix had shortened to 1.7cm. It went in on a Saturday evening and I left the hospital around noon on Sunday. I had some light bleeding over the next couple days. It was red blood although they told me it would be brown. I think I lost my mucus plug as well. 
I went in Thursday morning for them to check the stitch and make sure it was holding. The night before I'd been having some light cramping and it really freaked me out. When I called the doctor and described it they said it was not labor. So, I got my stitch checked that Thursday and again a week later. It was holding strong. I have not had it checked since.
I was put on modified bedrest. I only left our home for doctors appointments. I was able to do the stairs in my home and sit in chairs for meals or on the porch. After several weeks I asked to go to physical therapy. I wanted to come up with a safe exercise routine to prevent my muscles from atrophying. I'd absolutely encourage you to do this right away. I wish I hadn't missed those first six weeks. 
My bedrest order was lifted on Monday. I was 36w1d. I'm easing into activity. Walking up and down the block a couple times a day and doing some pelvic tilts. My stitch comes out on Monday when I'll be 37w1d. I'm so excited and proud of my family and friends for helping me through this time.
My husband did EVERYTHING while I was on bedrest. We did receive meals from people for a while but he clean d, cooked , cared for our daughter, and cared for me. One thing that was really annoying was that I've been on complete pelvic rest. So, nothing sex related. My midwife told me to not even think about it. But, we made it through that as well.

You don't really feel it or you can feel some light pain when changing clothes. depending on your dr. either no sex and bedrest or the opposite. they check you every week or 2 weeks depending on your situation. my previous pregnancy was being checked every week opposed to this pregnancy every 2 weeks. You get it removed at 36/37 weeks once it's removed you'll be monitored for contractions if all goes well you go home same day. or you could deliver that same day of removal. Really depends on your body. I went to 39 weeks after cerclage was removed.  I was also on progesterone pills and makena shots. You might get a round of steroid shots for baby in case you still happen to go into preterm labor. good luck, wish you the best.
