To circumcise or not?

do not want a debate on how awful it is to circumcise a baby. just curious what other moms did to decide if they would get it done or not and what recovery is like.... does it hurt them? do they give them pain relief? so ive had 4 GIRLS and this is new territory for me, not even sure this baby is a boy.... we arent finding out.  my husband is circumcised and wants it done and im ok with it i just dont know how its done how long it takes does it hurt and is it common to do it anymore? please no bashing or judging

If I had a boy I wouldn't. I have heard of cases where there are mistakes and only half the skin is cut off....and, I just can't imagine wanting that procedure to be done to our little angel baby. It's a myth that penises are cleaner without foreskin, look it up. I think nowadays people do it because they worry their son will be an outcast if the procedure isn't done. That's not a good enough reason for me 🤷🏼‍♀️ I know tons of women might hate this comment, but I'm just being honest on my perspective. I really don't want to bicker with anyone.

I cried harder than my baby did. They gave him a paci with sugar water and a shot to anesthetize before the circumsicion. After that he didn't feel anything or cry. After that we put a dollop of A&D; on his penis at everyvdiaper change so it would stick to the diaper and it healed after about 7 days. Totally easy and I swear it's harder on us than the baby. Just don't do Plastibell!!!! That's like torture, they put a device on that slowly cuts the skin off over 7-10 days!!!

I would if I was having a boy. It’s a lot harder on them if they want to get cut later on in life. I dated a guy for years who was not circumcised and he told me often how he wished he was but now has a life and recovery is different now that he is older so he won’t get it done. He has debated doing it for a couple years now but won’t.

It is very common. I had my son circumcised, and it was so fast. it did not seem to bother him at all .All you have to do is squeeze a packet of bacitracin over it after every diaper change. Heals so quickly.  You have nothing to worry about in my opinion

I didn't get my son circumcised. He was born the way he was born and he was and is still perfect. I don't see any reason to interfere with nature unless there was a serious health concern. Each to their own though :)

If our baby is a boy he won’t be circumcised  My husband isn’t and his is fine and there’s no family history of it going bad for any other men in our families. 
I feel like it’s really a personal decision though, I’m not going to bash anyone who chooses that for their son, just please make an educated decision and don’t do it just because it’s what other people do.

Both my sons are circumcised. I was with them the whole time and it was no big deal. No issues. But I also don't think it's terrible not to, there's not much risk of infection if it's cleaned properly. So it's really a matter of personal choice. The extreme arguments in either position are exaggerated in my opinion.

I will, i am having a boy and on my moms side all the males have a gene where the foreskin closes and then need to be circumcised later anyway. Therefore the safest option for us is to have it done.

I started with something simple like watching Adam Ruins Circumcision. To be honest, my family is Jamaican and my husband is British, so we weren't going to anyway but I just wanted to make sure we were doing the best for our boys. Then I just got to thinking...if we have to be careful with getting urine and feces in the umbilical cord, what happens to a circumcised penis inna diaper? It does lower your risk of getting penile cancer, but when you look at the numbers (2 out of every 100,000 men over 80) it's really negligible. It is on a steady decline in the states, and the APA just issued a statement on it saying it's not really necessary. Whatever you decide, good luck, and be sure to check out that video. They have really good citations for everything so it's not simply opinion based.
